I’m hoping for good news today

After I get home from walking today, I'm going to devote the rest of my day to finding out the results of Gavin's lab work from last Friday. We need to know where is numbers are because they've been dropping very low but also because he's been getting sick for the last week. If his numbers are low, that could be why he's been getting sick and it's something to worry about. If his numbers are okay, then we have far less to worry about.

I’m excited about today

This week I'm looking to bump my morning walks up by an additional mile or so. I want to be regularly doing close to four miles a morning either on the track or treadmill. My goal is to get back to five miles a day within a reasonable amount of time. That's totally a doable thing for me physically. The main obstacle at this point is a mental one but with some discipline, I should be able to overcome that. ☺ I'm going back to weighing myself on Wednesday's only, at least for a little while. All I need to do is loose one pound a week in order to reach my goal within the next year. I've mentioned before that I want to lose the weight in a slow,…

Hopefully this will be a positive thing

This will be the boys first full week of the school year and I'm very much looking forward to getting my routine back on track. That means morning walks and maybe even regular housework. ☺ Aside from school, the only thing on the schedule is Elliott's OT. I'm really hoping that this getting back into the routine of things proves to be a positive thing for all of us.

I think we may have something in common

It doesn't matter if your kids are special needs or not, kids drive their parents crazy. As a member of both parenting and special needs parenting communities, I'm often trying to find ways to help people better understand what the special needs community is going through. One of the best ways to do this is by finding common ground. For a long time, I thought that common ground was the fact that we all love our kids. It's true, we all love our kids, regardless of anything and everything.   It occurred to me this afternoon however, we have something else in common as well. Our kids can and will drive us crazy. There's no way around it and no way to avoid it. Kids drive their parents crazy at…

I meant to share this eariler

I meant to share this eariler but forgot. As you already know, Gavin went to bed last night not feel good at all. He was miserable and trying not to vomit. This has been happening on and off for a week or two. I've no idea what's going on. Thankfully, he's feeling much better today. In fact, it's like he was never feeling bad in the first place. Rather than drive myself crazy crazier by trying to figure this out, I'm going to embrace the fact that he's feeling better and roll with it.

The kids have left the building

The boys have left to spend the day with their Grandparents. I think they're going swimming and they'll enjoy that. Lizze and I are going to just relax this afternoon. Perhaps we'll go for a walk or something later on. We do have a few things we need to get done in order to be ready for the new school week. I'm looking forward to a quiet day.

Woke to gunshots

I managed to fall asleep last night but awoke to gunshots outside. Assuming I woke up after the first shot, there was a a series of roughly ten or eleven that followed. I'm not sure how close they were to our house but they sounded too close for comfort. Thankfully, I was the only one who woke up. Sleeping after the gunshots wasn't easy because I kept thinking about how we need to move away from all this nonsense. 🙁

Emmett’s MAJOR victory

My parents sent Lizze and I to Outback for dinner on my birthday. It was amazing and we are so grateful for the time away. While lunch was awesome, I couldn't finish it. I brought home about 20 oz of a 24 oz ribeye steak in a take home box. Emmett has been into beef lately, but only under certain conditions. Those conditions seem to be in flux all the time but I thought I would offer him some steak and see if he'd at least try it. Over the next two days, Emmett ate every last piece of that 20 oz ribeye, all by himself. I was thrilled that he ate that because it's different than what he normally eats and that feels good to see. ☺ I wish…
