I haven't seen a Japanese beetle in forever (photography) On our nature trip yesterday, I found this little invasive species. I used to catch Japanese beetles all the time when I was a kid. Until today, Elliott had never seen one before, which kinda blew my mind because they were so common when I was his age. I remember those smelly Japanese beetle traps people used to leave in their yards. Good times.. Anyway, I caught this with my Samsung Galaxy S8+. I really, really wish I had more time to capture images of the things I come across. I love this picture...

I love taking pictures of bees on flowers (Photography) Aside from my kids, bees are hands down my favorite things to take pictures of. It's said that if bees go extinct, we won't be too far behind, pun intended. There's just something about a creature this small, having such an impact on the world, that fascinates me. Capturing them in digital form, allows me to preserve a tiny bit of their legacy, and share it with my kids.

He deserves to catch a break

Gavin woke up this morning without a headache. That's always a positive thing because headaches suck.  He has enough going on in his young life, and deserves to catch a freaking break every once in awhile. It's heartbreaking to for any parent to see their kids suffer. I can't tell you how many times I've prayed to have his burdens placed upon my shoulders.  Unfortunately, those prayers have been left unanswered. Instead, I will watch him continue to deteriorate before my eyes, because that's all I'm able to do.

We’re going to have to get this checked out

Our evening slowed down nicely, as our day was coming to an end. The boys were in a pretty good place, and bedtime wasn't a huge problem.  Lizze was feeling better after a nap, and continued reading The Three Musketeers to Elliott and Emmett. This is how they fall asleep every night, and it works well. Once they were asleep, they stayed asleep. ☺  Gavin went to bed complaining of a headache again. This is becoming a nightly occurrence, and I've no clue what's causing it. It seems to only happen at bedtime, and he gets so upset because he wants to go to sleep but he can't.  We're going to need to get this checked out when he sees his neurologists in the coming weeks.  Lizze and I watched…

I have a friendly challenge for anyone who voted for @realDonaldTrump

I don't often get political on the blog, but what's happening in our country is not good. As a special needs parent, I have grave concerns about where Healthcare is going, as should we all. We have the power to make change, but we have to educate ourselves, put opinions in the back burner and deal with the facts.  This is totally off topic but I'm frustrated, angry, and frankly scared of where Donald Trump is taking our country. As a special needs parent, I'm terrified of what the future holds for families like mine, as a result of a Trump presidency.  I've very vocal on Twitter and actively share my thoughts on the things that come out of his mouth. It's shameful that the person representing our country lacks…

Our afternoon took an unexpected turn

Our afternoon took an unexpected detour. Lizze called from class, not feeling well. The boys and I ended up making the trek to rescue Lizze and bring her home so she can rest.  Maybe we have something going around.  Emmett was complaining of a tummy ache again this morning, but Elliott's feeling better. Hopefully this will pass quickly and we will get things back on track, asap.. ☺

One way I’m keeping my kids with #Autism active

I'm trying to keep the boys as active as possible this summer. I want them to develop healthier habits, because it will be easier for them to maintain a healthier lifestyle as they get older.  Right now Gavin's receiving his IVIG infusion, and depending on how he's doing afterwards, we may meet up with my Mom at the track. Elliott wants to walk the track, but Emmett not so much. If Grandma is there, he will be more willing.  The only other obstacle would be weather related. It's supposed to storm on and off today.  I want to at least make a concerted effort to make this happen. If it doesn't, I'll use the treadmill.

Something to remember on this Monday

I wanted to take a quick minute, and remind you of something important. Please remember that you are only human, and recognize your limits.  We all feel like we need to keep going and going, but give yourself a break.  Taking a break can help to make you a better parent. ☺
