Quick Update

Just a quick piece of house keeping. As some of you know, I created a reddit sub for autism parenting many years ago. It was a support group for parents to share their experiences and learn from each other. The goal was for parents and autistic adults to come together and learn from each other. I'm not a huge fan of the reddit platform and I moved the group to Facebook (link below). Those who stayed behind requested that the reddit group remain open. I've turned it over to a 3rd party and they will run it as they see fit. Effective immediately, I've severed all ties, deleted my account, and I'm no longer associated in any way, shape, or form, with this group, or any other group on reddit.…

I Need to Find an Attorney ASAP

It's been a really long night. I want to explain and at the same time, make an important announcement as well. I began my blogging journey over ten years ago with Lost and Tired. Eventually rebranded to The Autism Dad during my first separation in 2014 because I was starting a new journey. Eventually, I merged the two sites together and aside from a small gap of roughly six months, everything I've ever written is here. The missing six months happened during the merger and had to do with data corruption, if I recall correctly. During that period of time I wasn't really writing much anyway and while I wish I had everything intact, I've accepted this loss of data. When the sites were merged, I shutdown Lost and Tired.…

Sweet picture from our July 5th adventures

I know these are a couple of days late but I wanted to share them anyway. On July 5th, one of my focuses was wearing my kids out, by keeping them busy all day long. It was dark from a perfect day but while Lizze was in class, I took the boys to the indoor playground and let them play for awhile. They ended up joining in a game of tag with the other kids that were there. It felt so nice to see them having fun with other kids in a playground. After Lizze arrived home from class, we went to the Garden Center as a family. The boys went exploring, and Gavin found several painted rocks, that he promptly re-hid somewhere in the giant garden, for others to…

I’ve been so worried about Elliott not sleeping

We've had a pretty good morning. Elliott slept until about lunchtime, and that was awesome. We don't have any immediate plans for today, but maybe we'll get the kids to the playground again. I'm feeling much better after a brief power nap, and ready to take on the rest of the day. I've been so worried about Elliott not sleeping, and it's taken its toll. Hopefully, we're through this period of disturbed sleep and can return to a better, more healthy sleep cycle. :-)

No super annoying YouTube shows

So we are hanging out at our parent's house, chillin' with their dog, and bogarting their internet for a little while. :-) It hadn't occurred to me until now but there is a huge upside to not having the internet at our house. No internet means no super annoying YouTube show's, played at high volume because life isn't hard enough, without having to listen to Pat and Jen (Emmett's favorite show). As soon and as they connected at my parent's house, all that noise came flowing back in our direction. Anyway, we're going to be here for a little while, and leave after feeding the devil dog. The plan is to go to the garden center and let the kids play for a bit. I think they will probably head for…
