Here’s what a family therapy session looks like for myself and the boys

Today was a mishmash of many different things.  All the therapies from today were canceled as a result of Emmett's fever.  Dr. Pattie is a bit different, and so we made it to that. She's known Emmett since before he was born and understands about the fevers. I suppose the main focus of this post will be on the therapy session with Dr. Pattie. It has occurred to me that in all the years I've been writing, I've never really talked about what happens during on of these therapy sessions.  Frankly, we've been going every week since before Elliott or Emmett was born and so it's become just one of those things I rarely think much about because I'm so used to it. Emmett just lost his second tooth :)

Emmett came home from school this afternoon and had a really loose tooth. He had shown me before school but he must have been playing with it all day because it was just barely hanging on. Shortly before dinner, he wiggled it clean out. He was so excited because it was sore and made it hard for him to eat anything. The tooth fairy will be sure to stop by tonight. She'll probably leave his tooth so he can show his Mom this weekend.  The tooth fairy's just awesome like that.... ☺

I wanted to provide further insight into the daily life of an Autism family by sharing pictures that I've never shared before.  These are taken from a multitude of average days. They range from doctors appointments, school achievements and public outings to simply goofing around at home. What this shows is that Autism families are very much human.  In some ways, we're not much different than any other family, and in others ways, couldn't be more different.   This is daily life for The Autism Dad household. ☺
