Don’t Wait Until Primary School To Educate Your Kids

This is a collaborative post Image Source Children may not have to officially start education until primary school, but it can pay to give them a headstart. Getting your kids used to being taught can make school less of a shock to the system and it can increase their willingness to want to learn. You don’t have to teach your kids anything complex – basics like counting and the alphabet might be all they can absorb before the age of five. Here are a few ways to start educating your kids before they reach school Start reading with your kids early Teaching your kids to read before they reach school can be hugely beneficial. It’s so important to challenge him with things like this

Gavin's been spending too much time playing games on his tablet. Right now he's playing a game that talks about the 7 wonders of the world and Gavin wanted to learn more about them in real life. I suggested that he research one of them each day and write a brief essay about it. I told him that I really wanted to learn about them and he could teach me all about them when he's done researching. He took that and ran with it. Below you will find his essay from today. I'm not quite sure what are his words vs what he copied from the internet. Gavin is very limited cognitively and things like this aren't easy for him. It's really important to encourage him to try anyway because…

It’s super nice to have advanced notice

The boys had a good day at school today. They are super excited to know in advance that they will have a snow day tomorrow. As a parent, it's super nice to know it's going to be a snow day, this far in advance as well. 😀 This will make for a less stressful evening and a much more pleasant morning also. The boys have been playing together since they got home and have even been quiet enough to allow Lizze to finish her nap. She's been in a great deal of pain this week and it's taken a lot out of her. I'm still feeling pretty good and I don't see anything changing that today. 😀

Being a parent can be a weird experience

School was canceled for tomorrow, already. Looks like it's going to be a long weekend and I'm honestly okay with that. I've always found myself in a quandary when it comes to the kids and school. I absolutely love having them home and would prefer them home by default. At the same time, they can and often do drive me crazy. It's a weird place to be in but being a parent can be a weird experience as well. ☺

It’s been a hectic morning

Turns out the boys have school today. I'm not sure why because everyone North and South of us are canceled, some for the rest of the week. It's actually colder here than the places that canceled as well. Weird.... Anyway, it's been a super fun morning and by super fun, I'm mean hectic. We discovered that our dryer is broken. The school clothes we put in the dryer last night were still wet this morning. The drum isn't spinning. I think it's just a belt and that's pretty easy to replace but it will still be down for a couple of days. As soon as I tear it apparent and confirm my suspicion, I'll have to order the part from Amazon. I'm pretty sure that's what I had to do…

It was a crazy evening but a good one as well

Assuming the weather isn't going to be as bad as they are predicting, the boys will. Be returning back to school in the morning. I'm kinda thinking that -20°F windchill might earn them a snowday but we'll have to see. This week is pretty much shot as far as routine goes but I'm looking forward to Monday when our routine will be in full effect. We had an interesting night. Lizze was with my Mom, sisters and sisters in law, planning a baby shower for most of the evening. Apparently that's fun cause she really enjoyed herself, which is good. ☺ The boys and I dropped her off at my parents before hitting the bank. After that, we had to make a return to Best Buy and I let the…

It’s Never Too Late To Have A Family

This is a collaborative post Humans are very privileged to live in a world of ever-evolving scientific research. We are constantly making progress around the globe in medicine and methods of surgery. It’s something to be in awe of, the way we have come far enough as a race to be crediting medical advancement to the fact we are living longer and healthier than ever. There is one area of life that has been under the microscope – quite literally – for medical advancement, and that is family planning.mage Source Men and women - both gay and straight…

Introducing the newest member to our family

Over the Christmas holiday, we added a member to our family. Her name is Ruby and she's a two year old Chorkie. We've always had two dogs and we've only had Maggie since having to rehome Bella, our Boxer because she became extremely aggressive with Maggie. We had no choice, because the dog fighting was getting really bad and it had become dangerous for the kids. We tried everything to avoid having to rehome her but nothing helped. It was heartbreaking because we'd had her for a few years without a single problem. One day, she decided that she wanted to be the dominant female and began challenging Maggie. This was totally a massive personality shift for Bella and these fights were always provoked by her. They always ended bloody…
