A long overdue update on me

The boys and I are going to have the day to ourselves. We'll be dropping Lizze off somewhere in North Canton, because she has a Christmas thing with her Mom. I imagine she'll be gone for most of the day. Both Elliott and Emmett have lost their respective tablets until lunchtime because of choices they made before bedtime tonight. I'm hoping to finish working on the first floor while Lizze is gone. I'd love to surprise her when she walks into the house from spending the day with her Mom. I made some decent progress today and I feel pretty good about that. Our Christmas tree is decorated and looking pretty snazzy. It's simple but we like and that's what matters. ☺ The weather has taken a turn towards the…

No sleep for this #Autism Dad and other updates

Last night was rough. Elliott never fell asleep and is going on something like 36 hours right now. Thankfully, Lizze took Emmett to school and then took Gavin for his bloodwork. That being said, we had some major problems with Emmett this morning. I was able to go back to bed a bit later this morning and feel fully recharged. Elliott is still plugging along as though nothing is wrong, other than running a fever. I don't know what's going on with him but I wish I did. As for Gavin, he's doing pretty good today. We have to do his IVIG infusion this afternoon but that's not a huge deal. Aside from talking endlessly about his one tablet game, he's not complaining of any problems and hasn't talked about…

My day summed up in a 30 second read

While I haven't gotten much accomplished today, I was able to deal with a utility issue, and get all the paperwork, including PR releases for both organizations involved in our trip. That's not a ton of work but it's done and one thing we can check off our list. On the school front, Elliott finished all his makeup work from when he was sick, and Emmett aced his spelling pre-test, so he doesn't have to take the Spelling test on Friday. He was really proud of himself. ☺ Gavin's been relatively quiet today. I'm not exactly sure what he's been up to but it can't be too bad because I haven't heard about anything yet. We did get Gavin's IVIG infusion done first thing this morning, right after breakfast. He…

Here’s an update

It's been such a long day. The boys were picked up bright and early by my Mom, and Lizze and I were off to the hospital. Her Dad has been in surgery for most of the afternoon. We were sent home after awhile but everything seemed to be going well. Apparently after this type of surgery, they keep the patient completely sedated for at least twenty four hours after. I'm intentionally leaving this vague because Lizze will have a more detailed post when she's feeling up to it. Check here. Speaking of Lizze, she's having a bit of a rough time with all of this. She's not slept well but is currently sleeping right now. The boys are at dinner with my parents and will be home in a little…

General Update: Here’s what happened

You've probably noticed there's been some downtime here over the last day or so. I apologize for not making a general announcement prior but I migrated to a brand spanking new server. I was approached by a new host awhile back and over the last six months, we negotiated a deal I couldn't refuse.  The move was necessary and now that I'm are back up and running, things are so much better.  One downside is that the support forums are gone for now, and they won't be back up for a little while. I'll have to pay for a new service every month and I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.  At this point, I'm dealing with monthly service fees again. My sponsorship is up and I figured…

I have a little bit of good news today

Let me begin by saying thank you for all the thoughts and prayers that have come in from all over the world. Lizze and I are truly grateful for all of you. ☺  I have quite a bit of information to share and I'm trying to do it in an effective way. Feel free to ask questions below and I'll do my best to answer or clarify.  First things first. Gavin's lab results came back today and his numbers are up. They are up alot, but they are higher than yesterday, so that's an enormous blessing.  His Neutrophil levels are back to 2.1 and his white cell count is 3.4.  The reality is, his numbers are scraping the bottom of the okay range and we aren't sure why. I spoke…

Could this be a medical crisis?

I wanted to update you on what I learned from Gavin's prescribing psychiatrist. They are going to get the refill pushed through to address the immediate issues of Gavin falling off the Clozapine and never again being able to use it again.  They want his labs redrawn and rerun first thing in the morning.  Before we know what to do next, we need to rule out a lab error. This is why we're continuing with the Clozapine at this point. If we stop the Clozapine and it turns out to be a lab error, Gavin will likely love life as an unmedicated schizophrenic. There aren't any other antipsychotics that would be considered safe for him, at least as of right now.  If the numbers prove to be correct and his…

An important update

I want to do a general update, and this time focus on Lizze. It's been awhile since I've really talked much about how Lizze is doing, so I thought I should correct that.  As you may or may not remember, Lizze was taking a series of three, very intensive, outpatient therapy-type classes. These are designed for people with PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder. Lizze has both Biolpolar and PTSD. These classes have been enormously beneficial for her.  Unfortunately, after all three classes were approved, and she was halfway through the second one, insurance decided to no longer cover this therapy.  They didn't provide a reason other than it wasn't beneficial.  The staff at the Cleveland Clinic/Akron General fought to get this overturned but were met with the impervious…
