Fingers crossed as I wait for the call

I spoke with the HVAC company who installed our A/C unit. We are scheduled for Thursday, but the cost is up in the air. My understanding is that all parts are covered for the first ten years, under manufacturers warranty.  This makes a big difference because the quote I was given was not taking that into consideration.  They are going to pull our file, and call the manufacturer to see what all is covered in the first ten years. I should be hearing back from them later today. If it's covered under warranty, than all I have to go is cover labor. Labor is expensive enough at this point, but any little bit of savings is a good thing.  Fingers crossed...

If we can make it through today

That felt like the longest night ever. I was finally able to sleep, and as I woke up, the house was feeling quite comfortable.  Lizze is already in class, and won't be home for hours.  The boys are all in a good moods, and that's awesome. I suspect as the day wears on, and the temperature increases, we'll see that change. If we can make it through today, it's supposed to rain for the next day or so, and that will cool things off.  At this point in time, I'm feeling pretty good about today.

I hope to schedule @CKPHeatingCool as soon as possible

It's pushing 2 AM and three of the five of us are still awake because of the heat. It feels so much worse now then it did all day long.  Lizze and I gave up our room tonight, because it's the coolest place in the house. Elliott and Emmett have both staked their claims on our king size mattress. Emmett did manage to fall asleep, but Elliott is still awake, and not likely to fall asleep.  Lizze and I are in the living room, on opposite couches.  It's so hard to get comfortable, and moving at all just increases the misery. Poor Elliott is breaking out with heat rash, and is super itchy. Gavin is sleeping off his IVIG infusion, but at least he's sleeping.  I'm going to try and…

I don’t think the kids will be able to sleep

It's getting pretty rough as the night goes on. It's hotter now than it was earlier, and you can't even sit in the house without sweating. The boys are really struggling tonight, and I'm not sure they're going to be able to sleep tonight.  This really sucks, because there's nothing I can do about it.  Until I have the ability to repair the A/C, I might have to go pick up a few fans. I'll do that as soon as I get my check. It's definitely cheaper, and it's something I know I'll be able to do.  It's gonna be a really long night.

It could be worse

The boys are home and doing pretty well. Gavin's currently receiving his IVIG infusion, and very much complaining about the heat.  Gavin complaining about the heat is almost unheard of because he's always freezing.  Everyone is just playing it low key, in order to stay as cool as possible. Having said that, it could be worse and I'm grateful it isn't.

At least I know what I’m up against

Today hasn't been too bad thus far. It's only in the low 80's inside the house. The boys have benefited from their Grandparents A/C for most of the day.  I was able to speak with the HVAC service and even if the parts are covered, I'm looking at several hundred dollars. Major components should be covered but the labor is still pretty rough, and smaller parts aren't covered anymore.  For example, if a capacitor is the culprit, I'm looking at roughly $300 for the repairs. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who does HVAC service anymore and I've troubleshooted to the limits of my ability.  At least I know what I'm up against.

Why he keeps forgetting the most basic things

Lately, Gavin's memory has been getting significantly worse. It was little things at first, like losing his shoes. When we went to the grocery store, he could find the items that I had always been able to send him for, and everything was in the same exact place.  We've moved to more serious things now.  The other day, when the boys came back from their Grandparents, Gavin just stood outside the front door. We have keyless entry, and all he has to do is put the code in, and the door unlocks.  I had to go open it for him because he forgot that he could let himself in. In fact, he didn't even see the keyless entry.  When I asked him why he didn't let himself in, he got…
