General Update: The Good News and The Bad News

I’ve been spread pretty thin this week and I haven’t written much at all. I’m trying to refocus a bit and get back into the habit but frankly, it seems overwhelming sometimes. I’ll do my best to get back on track.

There are a few things that I’d like to update you on.

First and foremost, Elliott finally was able to fall asleep at his normal bedtime hour. The last four or five nights, he’s really struggled to fall asleep and wasn’t able to until well after midnight. Last night however, he never fell asleep and that’s not a good thing.

I’m not sure what was different about tonight but he fell asleep without a problem. Lizze and I are both grateful for that.

Emmett’s been Emmett. Shoes and socks have continued to be a major issue but that’s par for the course.

When it comes to Mr. Gavin, I’m not really sure where to start. Behaviorally speaking, he’s doing great. We aren’t seeing any outbursts or anything like that. He’s patient with his brothers and tries to set a good example.
Unfortunately, while he’s still doing well behaviorally, he’s struggling in other areas.

His memory is really poor and he struggles with recalling things that should be fresh in his mind.

The biggest concern is actually related to his physical body. He’s been in a great deal of pain lately. In many ways, this pain is very similar to Lizze’s in nature and unfortunately, there’s very little that can be done about it.

When I’m talking about pain, it tends to be things related to his joints. The most common involves his hips, as they frequently pop out of socket. He has issues with his knees, shoulders and even his elbows. It’s most likely Ehlers Danlos and there’s not much that can be done about that.

Lizze has been dealing with that her whole life and sees a rheumatologist at the Cleveland Clinic.

It’s one of those things where it will never get better and will cause issues his entire life. It sucks and it’s not uncommon at all for something to pop out of socket several times a day.

Today was a rough day for him. I’m not sure if it’s weather related or just one of those things but he struggled with his knees quite a bit.

While the above is the most impactful at the moment, he’s also dealing with reflux tonight but was thankfully able to fall asleep. We made a change to his bed and it seems to be helping him.

Anyway, I’ll try to stay on top of things a bit better going forward. There’s more to catch you all up on but that’s it for tonight. I’m aiming for a decent night’s sleep and I’m gonna get while the getting good.  ☺

Poor sleepy kid. If he missed a night’s sleep it’s no wonder he went to bed on time.

Regarding pain: I notice for me that my pain lessens as the temperature goes up. Might be an air pressure thing. HOWEVER, if the temps zig and zag then whether it’s warmer or cooler, it aggravates the pain. One day 60, next 35, then up again doesn’t help pain since, I’m guessing, there are too many air pressure changes.
