Weigh-in Wednesday and a few other things

I had a rough time sleeping last night. I think I have too much on my mind lately, plus Emmett woke up after a really bad dream. All things considered, I'm feeling pretty good. The boys got off to school in good form and on time. Unfortunately, I haven't accomplished much today because I'm so tired but I'm feeling good and eating well. I think we are having a movie marathon tonight with the Transformers movies, ending with The Last Knight. The boys are pretty excited about this and frankly, so am I. On an unrelated note, readers have been trying to hold me accountable by reminding me about Weigh-in Wednesday's. I'm sorry that I didn't get around to it. Part of the problem was that I weighed myself wrong.…

Fit4Autism: Weigh-in Wednesday 9.6.17

Weight-loss is a very personal thing and sharing one's weight, especially when one is overweight, isn't easy. I feel as though I have a responsibility to my readers, and as such, I'm choosing to do weigh-in Wednesday's. Preaching about the importance of taking care of ourselves falls flat if I don't lead by example. If that means sharing some personal information that is frankly, embarrassing than so be it. My hope is that I can inspire other Autism parents to work on their own health and wellness.

I’m not giving up

I'm hoping that we will be able to get this short week off all on the right foot. The boys are returning to school after the holiday and that will help everyone get back into their routines. My goal is to squeeze in about four miles while Lizze is at the doctors. Actually, I'm hoping to do this every morning for the rest of the week. I'm going to attempt a return to weigh-in Wednesday. I'll weigh myself every Wednesday and share my progress or pitfalls. This is probably the best way to help keep me honest. I'm not giving up. Something else I'm thinking about is relaunching Fit4Autism, and help motivate other parents like myself, to take better care of themselves, so they can take better care of their…

I’m excited about today

This week I'm looking to bump my morning walks up by an additional mile or so. I want to be regularly doing close to four miles a morning either on the track or treadmill. My goal is to get back to five miles a day within a reasonable amount of time. That's totally a doable thing for me physically. The main obstacle at this point is a mental one but with some discipline, I should be able to overcome that. ☺ I'm going back to weighing myself on Wednesday's only, at least for a little while. All I need to do is loose one pound a week in order to reach my goal within the next year. I've mentioned before that I want to lose the weight in a slow,…

He doesn’t remember and that’s concerning

We made a spontaneous trip to the park. Elliott decided he wanted to walk the track and I jumped at the opportunity. Gavin wanted to come along with us but I was concerned about his hip. I asked him if he thought his hip would be okay during the walk. He looked at me like I had two heads and said that his hips never hurt. At first I thought he was joking but it turns out he's serious. He doesn't remember ever having issues with his hips while we were walking. I can't tell you how many times he's had issues with his hips while on a walk. The fact that he doesn't remember is a bit concerning. He came with us and ended up doing okay, but we…

Even when they drive me crazy

That's wasn't a very relaxing walk. Taking the boys is something I enjoy doing, because I like spending the time with them, while trying to instill healthy habits.  While I enjoy it, on the other hand, it's frustrating because the boys are so focused on Pokémon Go, it feels like I spend most of the time redirecting them. Today was particularly challenging and I'm more stressed out now than I was before.  Generally speaking, the boys actually do pretty well.  We still managed to get about a mile and a half before calling it quits. Emmett's little legs were getting too tired and I didn't want to have to carry him. My knee is still bothering me and that would have been too much.  My Mom walked with us and…

Starting the week off on the right foot

We're going to start the week off on the right foot. The boys and I are going to meet my Mom for an early morning walk. Gavin will be staying home with Lizze cause this will be too far of a walk for him.  The pace will be a bit much for him and I don't want him to feel the need to push himself.  I'll take him walking later in the week.  I'm hoping to get two miles in before this whole eclipse thing happens.  This will be a great way to begin the week and renew my weight-loss efforts.
