Maggie just got into a fight with a massive raccoon

I just let Maggie outside and not two seconds after she hit the porch, something came walking up the steps.  Maggie was gone and all I heard this really loud growling.   Next thing I know, Maggie's going absolutely crazy and she's in a fight with something.   I ran into the house to grab a flashlight and wiffle bat before dashing back out to the yard. The fight was taking place in some brush so I couldn't see what was going on.   I know a wiffle bat won't do shit but it's all I had immediate access to in the moment.  It was so loud that my neighbors came out to make sure Maggie was okay.   A few seconds later, Maggie bursts through the bushes and is…

Well that was unexpected

We had a nice little surprise today.  My Mom called and wanted to come by to pick up Emmett.  She thought they could spend the day together and play boardgames, which is something Emmett loves to do.   She wants to take Elliott tomorrow and spend the day doing crafts like he loves to do.   While the boys are in school, Gavin tends to spend a lot of time with my Mom and so they'll get their time in a short while.   This was just a really nice surprise and it helped to break up the day..  ☺

It’s the end of the world. Well, it’s the end of Elliott’s Minecraft world anyway

The boys have really been into Minecraft lately and Elliott discovered mods for Minecraft PE. I warned him countless times that while mods may work, they may not always work correctly or they could even corrupt his game data, meaning he could lose all his world's.   Some of the mods began causing problems right away.  No one could join his world and he was no longer able to join our family realm.   He lived with it for a couple weeks but decided that he needed to remove all the mods and get things working correctly again.   Unfortunately, that ended up costing him the world's he's worked on for many months and he now has to begin again.  He's pretty devastated right now but it is what it…

Gavin isn’t doing well this morning :(

I was up really late with the two youngest boys and woke up to Gavin doubled over in pain, feeling like he was going to vomit.   It's really frustrating to try and get information from Gavin about how he feels because that's a skill known as expressive language and Gavin is sorely lacking in that department.   All we can do is try to piece together what's going on based on what we see and how he's acting.   As far as this morning goes, I gave him his anti-nausea medication and Lizze got him something to help speed things alone.  Part of the issue is that Gavin may be um.....backed up. We addressed that and we'll see if that helps.   Back to the frustrating side of things.…

I’m worried about the new school year for a couple reasons

The boys start school this week.  They're actually starting much earlier than they have in previous years.  Normally, they begin school around the second week in September, give or take. We're going to start with the positive side of things first and then get into what has me worried. I'm ready for them to go back because I really need the time during to the day to help make this site turn a profit (ads etc).  I also need the time to focus on my health. Lizze and I are going to begin walking in the morning after dropping the boys off at school. I'm so not happy with the my weight and it's certainly not helping with my depression. I think it will be Lizze, my Mom, Gavin and…

I think the cookout went okay

We got home a couple hours ago from our first family cookout/get together since Lizze moved home. I think all things considered, it went pretty well.  It's going to be a work in progress as we move forward but move forward we must.   The boys had fun, although our stay was almost cut really short because Gavin had really bad cramps and nothing could provide him with relief.  He said that it was hurting before we left but he thought there might be pop at the cookout and didn't want to ruin his chances of having some. We do allow him to occasionally have something other than the water his autonomic specialist has told him to consume.  He's only supposed to drink 2.5 liters of water per day and…

This is the last thing on our reunification bucket list

We decided to arrive a bit early to this cookout because Lizze felt more comfortable being the first. It makes total sense because we wouldn't be walking into to a house full of people. They will be walking into a house with us already in it.   It was my idea and I thought this might help just a little bit.   This is really the last thing on the list to check off, in regards to the reunification of my family.   This will hopefully bring the rest of the family into the fold and we can all move forward together.  I'm both excited and nervous, all at the same time.

I so totally need a nap

I'm totally dragging today. I feel like I haven't slept in a really long time.   We've got a big day ahead of us and that's probably why I didn't sleep well last night. I'm stressed out and worried about how everything is going to go today. I so totally need a nap.
