Okay, so this isn’t something I usually do, but there’s a video going around right now that really bothered me. I’m not going to play it because I don’t want to spread her hateful message, but in it, she mocks people who are about to lose their SNAP benefits on November 1st. She talks like they’re just irresponsible, that they should “get a job,” or that they should’ve saved their benefits from last month, as if it’s that easy. It’s disgusting. It’s been a long journey to get where I am today. It feels like I’m exhausted and overwhelmed on most days. I know many of you can probably relate. One thing I don’t talk about a tremendous amount is my personal life. I value privacy more as I get older and protecting the privacy of the people in my life, is a priority. #Representation is so important. Listen to the absolute joy when kid notices an advertisement at the store that includes a little girl in a wheelchair. The importance of something as simple as seeing someone that reminds you of yourself on TV or in the media can’t be overstated.
