My teen with #Autism was frisked by police today and here’s what happened

"I was thinking to myself, OMG please let Gavin be okay with this because sometimes he can be unpredictable when it comes to being touched."

Gavin / General Update / My thoughts

I’m heartbroken because Gavin’s really beginning to struggle again :'(

"I can't adequately express how much this kills me. As his father, it's so hard to know that he's going through this and there's very little I can do to about it"

Feeding Problems / My thoughts / Sensory

Anything related to food is so stressful for my #Autism family

"A picky eater will eat when they're hungry enough. An Autism and sensory kid will literally starve themselves if a food isn't sensory friendly"

My thoughts

It’s days like today where hopelessness creeps in

I’ve been raising autistic kids for 25 years. I’m neurodivergent myself. I’ve been through the therapies, the IEPs, the meltdowns, the wins, and everything in between. People act like services, support, and understanding should just stop when our kids turn 18. But autism doesn’t magically vanish on their birthday. Just a gentle reminder that you never know what someone might be going through, so just be kind.
