100 pictures from our amazing hike at @StarkParks Quail Hollow

I've been talking about how we want to make this a good summer for the kids. With a tight, sometimes nonexistent budget, we're limited to local things. Admittedly, I've been very discouraged by our limitations. I've felt demoralized and defeated but I at the same time, I can't give up because that would be letting my family down. Lizze and I have made a conscious decision to focus on what we can do rather than what we can't and that's something I feel good about. ☺ One of the things we can do are day trips. These are close to home but can be fun nonetheless. Today we took the kids to Quail Hollow Park. It used to be a State Park but was given to Stark County awhile back…

We had a nice little family outing

In an effort to make the best of the time we had yesterday, I packed everyone up, including Ruby and we hit a local nature trail. We only took the trail for about 1.5 miles but it was fun. Afterwards I took everyone for some ice cream before heading home and having a quiet evening. [foogallery id="81113"]

Gavin’s had an Upper GI at @AkronChildrens Hospital this morning

Gavin's appointment went really well. I mean, we don't know the results but Gavin physically did pretty good. He could follow directions and it took a little bit because they had to make more stuff for him to drink. I can't say enough positive things about how nice everyone was. They were very patient and not that I need to explain to anyone because it's painfully obvious, but they recognized his cognitive impairments and handled him very well. We don't know the results but we'll get them at his next follow-up. If there's a major issue, they'll call us first.. Thank you Akron Children's Hospital, you've never let us down and always treated us with respect. [foogallery id="80856"]

Here’s what happened at @AkronChildrens today

We ended up not seeing the doctor we thought we were supposed to and while we were initially thrown off at first, we really like the new one.. There was a great deal of information but I'm going to make this as quick and concise as possible. Basically, there are at least a few tests that need to be done but there are some complications. We don't really know anything until this testing gets done. Unfortunately, because of Gavin's immunological problems, specifically the Neutrophilia, there's a significant increase in risk of infection from the procedure and until that's resolved, they won't do it. If he was having life threatening gastro issues, they would do it immediately and regardless of his ANC. She explained that what Gavin's needs is semi-elective at…

It was just the guys today

Lizze has been out with her Mom all day and that means it's just been us. We spent the afternoon watching the Cavs beat the Pacers, we decided to go to the park. The boys went exploring and Pokémon hunting. Gavin wandered around aimlessly for a little while but had fun. Spring is definitely out in full force here in Ohio. All I need to do now is figure out dinner. I've no idea what we're gonna do for dinner. No one can agree on anything and I'm not in the mood for this much indecision.... 😳 [foogallery id="79481"]

Emmett’s Martial Arts Tournament Results (Tons of Pictures AND Video)

It's been a long day, but I've finally recovered enough to write this post. I'm going to keep this brief and let the pictures/videos do the talking. ☺ Emmett had his martial arts tournament on Saturday morning and it was a pretty awesome experience. I had originally thought this was going to be something that wouldn't have any actual competition but I was wrong. There was no sparring or contact anything, but they did compete. Everything they did was scored by the judges and the highest score won. He competed in the Empty Hand Kata and the Weapon Kata. I'm super excited and incredibly proud to share that Emmett took first place in both competitions. He had the highest scores of anyone who competed today and there were a ton…

I’m so proud – Check out the awards my kids earned at school

I want to take a minute and share some awesome achievements the boys have made in school. We have reached the end of the grading period and awards have been given out. They have a little awards ceremony but parents aren't allowed to be there. That's sucks cause I'd love to be present. Anyway, both Elliott and Emmett have done great. Lizze and I couldn't be any prouder of them. Check out the awards below. ☺ Click the image below to open the gallery... ☺ [foogallery id="79001"]

Something cool happened in our tank today

I wanted to take a minute and share this because the boys really thought it was cool and frankly, it kinda was. We're all about our fish tank and we have lots of interesting creatures living in our aquatic ecosystem. We also have two small crayfish in there as well. There aren't any predators and the water is warm, they are growing like crazy. This is the closest I've come to actually catching one of the crayfish shedding its shell. We know they do it and we find the empty shells all the time but we've yet to witness this happening. I was pretty close today and I wanted to share the pictures.
