While we were at the park today, I spent some time taking pictures of the many flowers that are living there. The last time we were there, we saw an elderly couple working in the garden, and they did an amazing job. I wish my yard looked even a tiny fraction of how good this huge garden does. I'm feeling motived to work in the yard this summer, and make things look as nice as they possibly can. We're somewhat limited because of funding and where we live, but I'm all about making the best of what we have to work with...

Things I do to manage my #Autism Parenting Stress

One of the most important things an Autism parent can do is take care of themselves. I wanted to share one of the things I do in order to better manage my stress. Took the family to the park today. The boys didn't want to go because they were playing in their room, but as the King of this castle, I decided we needed to get outside for a little bit. The boys went Pokémon hunting, while Gavin explored. While the kids used their tablets, they were outside getting exercise, and that's what matters at the end of the day.  Lizze and I took lots of pictures, which is something we really like to do.  This is a few of the best from today...

Why I’m worried about Gavin today

It started out like a typical Monday morning. It wasn't anything amazingly awesome, or horrifically terrible. The boys were tough to get moving but we got to school on time.  After dropping the boys off at school, I told Gavin to get his infusion supplies together. Every Monday and Friday morning, Gavin receives his IVIG infusion to treat his severely compromised immune system.  Typically, Gavin's very anxious to get this done because he he feels better once it's done.  Today however, Gavin essentially refused his IVIG infusion because he had a mission to go on, and he didn't want to go into battle with needles in his stomach. I can understand that, but he's never done that before.  I haven't yet learned the details of this particular mission or how…

Watch Emmett’s Martial Arts Promotion in less than 1 minute

Last Friday, both Elliott and Emmett had Martial Arts Promotion at school. I've got pictures and video of both. The boys did awesome, and we couldn't be any prouder of them.  The video below, summarizes Emmett's promotion. Elliott will have his own post as well.  Mr. Emmett was promoted to yellow belt, and demonstrated three katas in front of everyone. He was the only one to do this. Gavin's favorite place. I love the fact that Gavin has a favorite place to sit and enjoy nature. This is at the Canton Garden Center, and he sits here watching the fish swimming at the surface of the little pond. He also seems to enjoy the calming waterfall as well. Do you have a favorite place to just zen-out?
