We’ve made it to our 1st appointment at the @ClevelandClinic today

We've had a crazy busy morning, also got run off the freeway by someone texting and driving but we've finally made to the Cleveland Clinic. It's been chaotic thus far but we made it safe, sound and on time. ☺ If you've never been to the Cleveland Clinic, it's a top 2 hospital in the entire country and we're lucky enough to be within about an hours drive away. The main campus is amazing and the doctors are literally the best in the world. Gavin and Lizze receive most of their medical care at the Cleveland Clinic and I can't say enough about the quality of care they received. Aside from being a fighter, I firmly believe Gavin is alive today because of his specialists here, especially his Neurologist. One…

There’s so much riding on today

Thankfully, Emmett's in a good mood this morning because we finally understand why he's been so frustrated with school and no longer wants to go. Hopefully, we'll get some answers this morning and can put his fears to rest. I'll explain more when I can. He's not being bullied or anything like that. This has to do with what appears to be a classroom policy. After that, the biggest thing we have going today is one of Lizze's appointments at the Cleveland Clinic. One of her appointments today is very important, while the other is a routine follow-up. Lizze is going into the pain management program at the Cleveland Clinic. We're heading to the amazing @ClevelandClinic today in order to find relief for my wife, who's living with chronic pain.…

Today almost didn’t happen

We have an insanely busy day ahead of us. It will begin by meeting with Emmett's teachers because he came home today and requested that we pull him from the school. I can't go into what's going on until I meet with the teachers and gain more insight. Lizze and I will leave from the school and head to the Cleveland Clinic, where we will spend the rest of the day. Lizze has a string of appointments and they begin first thing and won't finish until dinner time. It's going to be an exceptionally long day and unfortunately, these appointments aren't all in the same location which means there's going to be a good deal of driving. What we did with our break from the kids

I already mentioned that the boys were spending the night at their grandparents tonight. I also talked about how Lizze was in a lot of pain and I wasn't sure we were going to actually do anything while the boys were away. I remembered that Lizze has been wanting to wander around downtown Canton and take pictures of all the artwork that's popping up all over downtown. She was a bit hesitant at first because simply existing hurt and walking around would likely make it worse, but she decided to give it a shot anyway. Below are the pictures I took while we were out. It’s a special day today

Today's a special day in our house because it's Lizze's birthday. I won't mention her age, aside from saying that she's younger than me.. ☺ Lizze is difficult to plan a birthday for so we're gonna wing it. We did the movie yesterday and we'll probably do something small at home. We don't make big deals out of our birthdays, as we reserve our resources for the kids. Maybe we'll do take out for dinner and have a movie night with one or more of her favorite movies. She's a huge fan of the Now You See Me series and the new Jumanji. It was a really bad migraine day

It's been a rough day for Lizze. She always has a migraine but there are days where it's way worse than others. The weather's been changing over the last 24 hours and that tends to make things much worse for her. The boys and I spent the late afternoon/early evening at my sister's house for another family cookout. Lizze was in one of those places where light was her enemy because it made the migraine worse. She stayed behind, closed the curtains and benefited from the quiet. She was missed but everyone understood and wished her well. My wife suffers from severe chronic pain but we have new hope

I don't write much about Lizze, but not because there isn't anything to say or I don't want to talk about her. She has her own blog where she likes to share her own story and I totally respect that. Sometimes however, it's important to say something anyway because she plays an invaluable role in our daily lives and does so while facing significant challenges of her own. For those that aren't aware or maybe need a reminder, Lizze lives with severe chronic pain. She's lived this way for countless years now and it absolutely takes a toll on her. This was very last minute

Elliott is sick. Emmett and Gavin are in Y-Town visiting my grandmother. Them going in the trip was sorta last minute but we figured it would do them some good to get out of the house and we could use the break. ☺ I sent Lizze to take a nice long, guilt free nap, and I hung out with Elliott. We ordered her favorite pizza for dinner and will be endulging on that as soon as it arrives. Things are tight right now but we got Lizze a Google Play gift card and a stuffed penguin for Mother's Day. She's never really been a huge flowers person, so this stuff was perfect.
