Why it’s been an emotionally heavy day

Last night we went to family night at the kids school. It was okay. The kids had fun and that's all that really matters. These things are always crowed, loud and in the middle of the goddamn school week. I get why they do that but it also means that the kids get all worked up, struggle to go to sleep and have a hard time going to school the next day. Anyway, this was a science night and they did all kinds of cool little experiments. The boys loved it. Some of the experiments totally blew Gavin's mind. It was like magic to him, which is sorta sad for me but at the same time, I'm happy that he enjoyed himself. Lizze came with us and that was not…

How the @clevelandclinic gave us hope

It's been a couple of days and I've still not gotten around to updating you on Lizze's appointment at the Cleveland Clinic. As a quick reminder, she was at the Neurological Center for Pain, seeking help for her migraines. Lizze went into this appointment with very, very low expectations because for the most part, she's without hope that she will ever live a day without pain. I get where she's coming from and it breaks my heart to see her go through this. That said, I'm carrying the touch in regards to hope because I cannot accept a reality in which she can't find relief from her migraine. She deserves to exist without pain and I will keep working towards that end. We arrived a bit early but only had…

At the @clevelandclinic Neurological Center for Pain hoping for a miracle

Lizze and I have safely arrived at the Cleveland Clinic's, Neurological Center for Pain. She really scared that they won't be able to help her. She hasn't been in - nor does she want to go on pain medication. She want the pain to stop, not just be masked. We are hoping that she can try a medication called Aimovig. It came out earlier this year and is the very first medication designed specifically for migraines. It's not a medication for something else that used offlable to treat migraines. It's supposed to be a big deal and we're hoping she can try it. She's had the same migraine for close to 7 years now. It never goes away and it only slightly lessens or gets worse. She's desperate for relief…

My wife is visiting the @clevelandclinic today, desperate for relief from her constant migraines

It's a huge day for Lizze. She's finally getting in to see her new headache specialist at the Cleveland Clinic. Lizze has had the same migraine for roughly the last 6 plus years and it never stops or goes away. She's never responded to medication and they've tried everything, including Botox injections in her forehead, face and back of the neck. It's been years since there's been any new options for the her to try but there are currently new treatments that hold promise for relief. Part of the issue that makes Lizze's case so complicated is that she has Ehlers-Danlos and mild autonomic disfunction. Ehlers-Danlos is a connective tissue disorder and can also effect the cardiovascular system as well. It's believed that her migraines may be related to a…

I’m so proud of my wife today

The boys got off to school this morning without trouble. Lizze and Gavin came with us because we were going to hit the park and go walking before returning home. Walking isn't always easy but Lizze did really good this morning. We went for just under a mile and a half. Gavin did well also and didn't complain abiht anything the whole time. Sometimes Gavin will experience joints popping out of socket while walking and that's very painful. Everything went smoothly for him and that's always a good thing. The walk was shorter than I would do on my own and that's okay. I'll make a second trip later today and get some more time in. I'm so proud of Lizze because I know how hard this is for her…

Here’s how our appointment with Pain Management went

Lizze and I met with Pain Management at the Cleveland Clinic yesterday. The objective of this appointment was to find ways to help Lizze manage her dibilating chronic pain. Lizze is living with Fibromyalgia, Ehlers-Danlos and daily migraines. As anyone dealing with chronic pain will likely tell you, it's exhausting, and it has a profoundly negative impact on your life. Lizze's pain impacts every single aspect of her life and has since 2004, when she was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Our reason for seeing pain management was to help her better manage her pain and maybe, get some of her life back in the process. There was a great deal of discussion that occurred during the appointment and her new doctor is really cool. I liked him but most importantly,…

The appointments went well and we just arrived home

Lizze and I just got home. We've been gone for about 10 hours in total. It's been a really, really, really long day. The boys are currently on the their way home and once their settled in, I'm going to likely go walking. Lizze's appointments went very well and we're still sorta digesting what we learned in pain management. I'll work on a summary of both the pain management appointment and what happened at school in regards to Emmett. I'm pretty sure we've resolved that issue but time will tell. Right now, I'm just tired. I don't really want to go walking but that's all the more reason for me to go. I'm on course to finish my monthly goal almost 10 days early. That's awesome. ☺ Anyway, my plan…

Hello Pain Management at the @ClevelandClinic

After a quick lunch, we've made our way to Pain Management. It was about a 35 minute drive from the main campus. We realized that we been to this location before. It was many years ago when Gavin was little. This is where he saw his first Cleveland Clinic Neurologist for his movement disorder. It's been a long time but it brought back some memories of the very early days in Gavin's health journey. Anyway, we're actually a bit early but she's checked in and filling out the questionnaire. They said she might be able to get in early. ☺ Lizze and I have come up with a list of questions, so we can maximize the time we have here today. I saw someone asked in the comments on the…
