Why I’m worried about my wife

I don't talk publicly about my wife much since the reconciliation and I thinks that's just out of habit. It's something I aim to correct because obviously she's a very important part of this journey.  That being said, I'm worried about her.  The last few days, she's been beyond exhausted. I'm talking physically unable to stay awake. While being tired is related to both medications and physical health issues, this is pretty extreme.  There are times where she's okay and moving around but most of the last few days have been spent sleeping.  On the positive side, she recognizes that something's not right.  Sometimes, people can be too close to whatever is going on to see what's happening.  Unfortunately, we don't really know where to start. Much like Gavin, her…

General Update: We have 2 important things to talk about

There are two things I need to touch base on in regards to our day today.  By far, the most important update has to do with Mr. Gavin and his eating of the raw chicken. I kinda joke about the ridiculousness of this but it's actually pretty serious or could be very serious.  Gavin has gone well over twenty four hours without any signs of him getting sick. He's fighting headaches lately but I think that's related to his vision getting worse.  We are so grateful that he's doing well and we thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.. ☺  The final thing on the agenda tonight is also very positive news. It's only less important because it's not potentially linked to Salmonella...  We celebrated my Mom's birthday tonight.…

MAJOR UPDATE: Here’s what’s going on with my wife

There's a part of me that's still getting used to my wife and I being back together, in regards to my writing anyway. I don't often include her in my writing because I got so used to avoiding any mentions while we were separated for almost two years. This is a problem, and I mean to address that moving forward. Lizze plays a vital role in our daily life, and there are things that should be talked about. For the more personal stuff, I will refer you to her blog, www.themamaspace.com. She shares personal insights about herself and her struggle. I'll be touching on some of the basics, though. I want to get things started by playing a little bit of catch up. You may already know that Lizze struggles…

We had some last minute appointments come up today

We had a lot minute appointment come up this afternoon for Lizze. She's having a pretty rough go at things right now and needs a little extra help. Gavin and I are both just hanging out in the waiting room. Life for Lizze isn't always fun. Chronic pain and bipolar disorder, make things very challenging for her. Considering all she's dealing with on her own, she does a remarkable job in regards to continuing to get back up and move forward. The last few days have been particularly challenging for her. When she sees thing heading in this direction, she makes sure to get additional help. We both do our best to give each other time to rest or just time to escape the chaos. It's not a perfect system…

That was horrible

We just arrived in Cleveland for Gavin and Lizze's appointments. The drive was horrible due to the weather and very poor visibility. Things were made worse by our windshield wipers freezing in place once we were on the freeway. That was not fun at all. We should be on our way home in about an hour or so and I've already fixed the wipers and topped off the wiper fluid. Hopefully, our trip back will be a bit easier.

Yesterday was such a rough day and here’s why

We survived another challenging day and by the time you read this, I'll be doing my damndest to get the boys to school on time.  This should keep you busy for now. Yesterday was especially tough for Lizze cause she wasn't feeling good all day. Lizze tends to get sick after eating and has for a very long time. We had always assumed it was due to stress or something like that. As it turns out, she has something called gastroparesis and it's actually quite unpleasant. Her doctor was concerned about her always feeling nauseated after eating and had her undergo a procedure. In this procedure, they fed Lizze scrambled eggs, laced with radioactive marker or something. She ate the eggs and they would measure how far along she was…

It’s heartbreaking when someone you love is massively depressed

The boys have been at my parents tonight and Lizze and I have been taking advantage of the time to finish some Christmas things up, as well as physically regroup.  It's been a long week and I'm grateful to see it come to a close. We've had a stressful week because Lizze isn't doing so well right now.  Lizze began taking Lithium a few days ago (as she's discussed on her blog) and while it's too early to really expect any major changes, from my perspective, it seems to helping.  This is a really tough situation because it doesn't really matter what I think. What matters is how she's feeling and she's not feeling better, at least not yet. Like I said, it's still too early.  The doctor said that after…

My wife is not doing well and could use your thoughts and prayers

If you've been following Lizze's blog, you know that she's going through a very difficult time. She's living with bipolar type 2 and is on a mission to share her story, in order to help others gain insight into this very challenging human condition.  People with bipolar type 2 have depression as their default state of being. When the pendulum swings to the right and they enter a manic phase, they tend to be more productive, creative and efficient in their daily lives. Mania is very mild.  When the pendulum swings to the left, they hit a massive, massive depression.  Lizze has entered into a major depressive episode over the last few days and she's really struggling with life.  Continued on next page - - - - - - > As…
