There was drama but we recovered

Today was a sort of a mixed bag for the boys and I. We got off to a great start in the morning but then there was a shit ton of drama surrounding Gavin’s IVIG Infusion.

He’s becoming paranoid when it comes to this and won’t leave the needles alone after they’re placed. He fiddles with them and when they show the slightest sign that they might be leaking, he shuts everything down, pulls the needles and re-sticks himself.

That in and of itself isn’t a major issue. The problem is that the needles are supposed to be sterile and when he sticks himself multiple times, the risk of infection increases.

We had a nice long, dramatic discussion about this and he gets so upset because he thinks he’s causing me stress. I’ve explained to him countless times that his infusions don’t cause me stress. Having to help him with them isn’t causing me stress. His reaction when things don’t go as he expects them to go, that causes me stress. In other words, him freaking out because he thinks he’s stressing me out, is fucking stressing me out. Does that make sense?

Ultimately, his infusion was a success and that’s really all that matters.

I spent the day working and prepping for 3 interviews this week. The boys were super cooperative, so when Elliott asked if we could go hiking before dinner, I was happy to make that happen. Happy is probably too strong a word. I was willing to make that happen but I was happy that we went.

Anyway, we had a great time and while no one else wore masks or social distanced, we were able to avoid almost everyone today. Check out my lockdown beard. Emmett is obsessed with it.

Everyone had fun and afterwards, I ordered pizza and we watched a couple shows.

I feel really good about today.

Things felt a bit more normal to me. Everyone needs to sometimes feel a sense of normalcy in their lives. It helps keep us grounded and moving forward.

I fully intend on calling it a night, very early and with any luck, I’ll get some solid rack time.

We have some appointments tomorrow afternoon with Akron Children’s Hospital and the rest of the day, I’m going to be prepping for interviews and building some interview outlines.

I’m excited for you guys to hear this week’s episode. Remember that will drop Friday but you can get yourself caught up by clicking below.

I hope you guys are all staying safe and please remember to wear a mask.
