Today was incredibly rough but here are the things I’m grateful for

I really try to focus on the positive. It doesn’t always work out because I’m human and can become overwhelmed by the reality of how incredibly challenging my life is. That’s the simple truth.

One of the things I do in our house is to encourage everyone to find something each day that they’re grateful for. I don’t practice this with the boys as often as I should but I’m doing the best I can. I think it’s an important life lesson for the kids because they’re going to have struggles throughout their lives and while we should always strive to be the best we can be, we must also be sure to pay attention to the things we’re doing well. ☺

We should learn from our mistakes but not dwell on them.

It’s sort of a work in progress but the seeds have been planted. Over time, I hope to see those seeds take root. It’s going to take time, patience and a shit load of practice but it will be worth it.

Even though today has been rough on me for a number of reasons and everyone struggled in their own way, I was able to bring the ship to shore for the night, with everyone still safely onboard. Considering some of the things I was dealing with today, this is something I’m taking pride in. I couldn’t fix everything but I successfully led my family through the day.

Everyone deserves credit because they each faced obstacles in their life and didn’t give up.

The truth is, I’m exhausted, overwhelmed, worried, stressed out, broke and fearful of what tomorrow will bring but I’m also incredibly proud of everyone. I’m grateful that we all made it to the finishline together.

I’m also grateful for the simple fact that it’s only 11 PM and I’m done writing for the night. I’m grateful that the kids are all in bed sleeping peacefully, with a roof over their heads.

None of these things erase the struggle but they do help me find the strength to keep fighting the good fight.

It’s important to find something positive in each day, as often as you can.

What are you grateful for at the moment? Please share your thoughts below. ☺
