A quick update before I try to go to sleep

It’s been a crazy long day and tomorrow is going to be even worse, at least for me. I’ll talk about that in the coming days.

For now, I wanted to let you guys know how Gavin’s MRI went.

Gavin is typically super cooperative but can still be difficult to work with. He doesn’t do a great deal of thinking for himself and he struggles with following directions, mostly because he simply gets confused.

By all accounts, he did amazing this afternoon at Akron General. His MRI took about an hour or so and I wasn’t allowed in the observation room or wherever the techs sat during the MRI.

I had a chair in the hallway and I waited outside the door. It was fine because I was there if they needed me and I wasn’t in the way, all at the same time. Gavin did fine without me and that’s awesome.

He did great with his IV and handled the dye without any side effects. He cooperated and it doesn’t sound like they had to repeat any part of the MRI process.

Now we wait to hear back from his cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic. If everything is good, we will simply schedule a follow-up for a few months down the road.

Once we get past this, we have to then focus on genetics in order to definitively diagnose or rule out Ehulers-Danlos, either vascular or not.

We have to take things one at a time anymore because it’s just too much otherwise.

Anyway, I want to send a big thank you to the staff at Akron General for everything. They did so awesome with Gavin. Mr. Gavin deserves mad props for how well he did today. I’m incredibly proud of him. ☺

I’m so glad Rob. Good medical care is very necessary when one has all these medical issues. I’m having multiple medical things taken care of and the farthest I’ve gone is to Toledo, around 60+ miles away. I had a more serious surgery earlier this year and had it 47 miles away in Ft Wayne. Our local medical care has dramatically improved considering we are in a small town.

Anyway, enough about me. Very happy to hear that Gavin got through the MRI without serious trouble. And if the MRI turns out to show he has this condition then you will have a plan of action. Good luck to you and your family!
